What do Band Scores mean?

  • Band 6 is base to all the higher bands. So, while attempting the question before real exam, understand it properly. Band 6 is achieved when you know the question to some extent and your answers revolves around it but isn’t on point. This happens because you have worked less in understanding the question. Next thing, Band 6 means users are comfortable in communicating in English only in their comfort zones or familiar situations.
  • Band 7 users are more proficient than Band 6 scorers. Users are familiar to different operational command which means ability to express same idea using different sentence structures suitable to topic and their reasonings are well explained in sequence. Users have wider vocabulary range and use synonyms rather than repetitions.
  • Band 8 users are more refined than band 7 users. In this band type user know the boundary sought by the question and answer is well within that boundary. They know where to start, reason and end the idea just like a perfect story line. Their errors are few due to appropriate and systematic usage. The error in band 7 and band 6 aren’t like that of band 8 ones. They have that capacity to use complex language expressing detail arguments in unfamiliar situation as well.
