Basics of IELTS Speaking

Three Part in Speaking

Speaking Part 1, 2 and 3 and How Your Response should be?

There are three parts to the speaking section with three different time periods.

Speaking Part 1 is 3-5 minutes

  • It starts with you entering the room and greeting the examiner
  • Examiner asks for your ID, and you reply with courtesy while giving your ID
  • After giving back the ID, asks general questions about you and topics you find easy while talking
  • Your favorite place, hobby, food, TV programs, home, family, likes/dislikes
  • Always give Reason, provide details, speculate around things, and lastly give example if required
  • Extend your answer to 2-3 sentences either by explaining it further, providing details or adding an example, you can discourse the previous said and move into another idea (I spend most of weekdays cooking vegetarian but if it’s the weekend I like to invest my time for a three-course non-veg meal.)
  • Take it as a casual conversation that you do while talking to new people
