Sample Question/Answer:
Q) People now have the freedom to work and live anywhere in the world due to the development of communication technology and transportation.
Do the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages?
These days many people choose to live or work in other countries, which has been made possible by the convenience of air travel and modern communications. I believe that this has more benefits than drawbacks.
There are significant advantages of living abroad that can bring to people’s lives. Firstly, people can see the other part of the world and their lifestyle. This helps to broaden their perception of different life settings. In addition to this, on a wider level, it is also beneficial to a country. If someone moves abroad for work, it is usually because their skill is required there. For example, people from the West often go to work in Asia or the Middle East in foreign exchange process. This enriches many people’s lives through language, traditions, and cultures. Henceforth such movement of the workforce is valuable.
However, such migration is not devoid of demerit. Such movement can put distance between family members. As such type of transfer can increase the connection between child and parents. This may result in negative emotional growth in a child as they are supposed to have with their parents psychologically. For example, studies done on children whose parents were in foreign countries for employment were more prone to sudden emotional outbreaks. Thus, lack of face-to-face contact in a family setting has some drawbacks.
I would therefore argue that there are more advantages as compared to the disadvantages in leaving the native country. It can enrich people’s lives through economic and tourism development while psychological impact felt by children cannot be neglected.
